Twelfth Annual Fall Tractor Show September 2003
Each year the club hosts a Steam and Antique Tractor Show, featuring tractor pulls, exhibits of antique farm equipment, and a parade of much of the equipment with many of the tractors that are at the show. 2003 was no exception, however this show was unique in a couple of ways: it was the first show on the Green Family Show Grounds and it included several large steam tractors in a working show.
2003 Fall Show, Tractors on DisplayThere were a lot of different makes and models of tractors at the show this year. Several of them were used in the working portions of the show, many others were there to look at and watch during the parade. These photographs are of the tractors on display this a small sampling of all the pictures.
Antique Farm Equipment on Display
In addition to the tractors and the working equipment, there was quite a bit of other antique farm equipment - most of which was in working condition.
YOUR HELP IS REQUESTED: One of the items on display is a horse drawn disc, but the origin of it and the manufacturer is unknown. There are some close up photos of some of the markings, which include what looks to be Oliver paint swatches on a side bar by the front weeks, and DH162A on a control lever anchor, and DH382 on a cast iron bearing. If anyone can identify this disc, please let us know any ideas or information you may have by emailing us. The information would certainly be appreciated. |
2003 Additional Tractors on displayTractors on Display that may have also been seen in working portions of the show. A variety of large, small, steam, gasoline, diesel, stock and modified.
International Harvester Show Booth from Missouri Chapter 1 IH ClubThe 2003 Fall Show had IH tractors for the selected tractors of the show. As part of this selection, the Charter Chapter 1 of the International Harvester Tractor Club in Missouri brought their portable IH Tractor display to the show. Contained in this portable show was all kinds of IH and Farmall Memorabilia from years past. This display was very well done and the photographs do not do it justice, but we did manage to capture some of the items on display.

Twelfth Annual Spring Steam and Antique Tractor Pull
The pictures linked to from this page are of the 12th Annual Steam and Antique Tractor Pull held behind the R-1 School Building in Cole Camp, Missouri on Saturday June 7, 2003. Some of the entries were captured but doe to the lighting and the length of the pull (over 110 hooks were made), not all pulls are shown.

Demonstrations for the local youth
In addition, the local Cole Camp Grade School were invited to view the exhibits in operation on Friday, September 13. Some of these photographs are a few of the groups of students being shown "How it used to be done."

Special Oat Binding and Threshing During 2002
Many years ago, farmers would harvest their small grain crops using a binder and threshing machine. This activity is being kept alive for the later generations by actually harvesting some of the grain with equipment that has been kept in operating condition over the years.
In July of 2002, several of the club members worked to harvest a field of oats, similar to how it was done so many years ago. Pictures of the oats binding activity and a short description are below in the 2002 Fall Show slideshow. Robert Wilshusen had a field of 7 acres of oats that was used for this purpose in July 2002. The binder that was used belonged to Melvin Oelrichs and several of the club members worked to shock the oats bundles to allow them to further ripen and dry in preparation to be threshed with a threshing machine. This was mostly an all day event, including instructions for standing the bundles on end in shocks, making repairs as needed to the binder, and in general having fun reminiscing on how it used to be done. The weather was typically a warm Missouri summer day, with the temperature in the low 90's and the humidity pretty high too. This required some pauses to satisfy the worker's thirst with cold water. These pictures were taken July 5, 2002. |

Steam & Antique Tractor Show September 16 - 17 2000
These pictures are from the Steam and Tractor Show held in Cole Camp. Most of the pictures are in the "Tractor" grouping, but there are also some good ones showing some of the activities. We were not able to capture everything and we did not intend to slight an important activity......there was a LOT going on during the show to watch.
